application
Before the first application:
The absorbency of menstrual sponges is determined by their
fine pores not to be compared with tampons. They are particularly good at absorbing and storing blood.
Since the sponge is a 100% natural product, the sponge is soaked in a mild vinegar-water mixture (ratio 1:2) overnight before first use to naturally remove any bacteria . As soon as the sponge comes into contact with water, its soft and supple structure unfolds and allows an ideal insertion into the vagina. Before you insert your sponge like a tampon, rinse it out again with water and check that there are no foreign bodies in the sponge. Each sponge is checked by several eyes, but you also do a quick check.
The sponge can now be optimally inserted into the vagina when wet.
Introduction of the natural sponge:
The menstrual sponge is gently squeezed with two fingers, inserted and placed in the ideal place. Due to its soft structure, the sponge adapts to the natural anatomy of every body and is therefore not noticeable. However, if you have the feeling that the sponge is a bit too big, you can cut it to your desired size while it is wet.
Duration of wearing and removal of the menstrual sponge:
The wearing time for heavy bleeding is 2-3 hours. However, the sponge can be worn to for up to 7 hours - even at night. Once the sponge has reached its capacity, it automatically slides down a little and allows for easy removal. You can easily remove the sponge with two fingers, ideally by gently pressing down on your pelvic floor muscles. If there are concerns about removal, you can use a needle, for example, to attach cotton thread for easier removal. We recommend replacing the thread regularly so that no bacteria can accumulate. Once you've removed the sponge, clean it with cold tap water. Stubborn residues can be easily removed in a second pass with warm (not hot) water. This order ensures optimal blood clotting. Then the water of the sponge is squeezed out with the hands. Now the damp sponge can be reinserted directly. Super easy! Tip: Carry a water bottle with you to easily clean the sponge over the public toilet - this is a change, but you get used to it quickly and good things for you and the environment come at a price!
Cleaning the sponge during the period:
During your cycle, it is sufficient to clean the sponge with tap water. The vinegar-water solution only needs to be done at the beginning and end of your respective cycle.
Sex with the sponge? No problem!
The sponge is inserted into the vagina as described. Then the fun can begin! Since the sponge can move upwards during sex, we recommend that you remove it after sex and wash it out with water. This counteracts any feelings of pressure. After cleaning, you can reinsert the sponge as usual - and that's it! Tip: For easier removal, you can also attach a piece of cotton thread to the sponge before sex - but don't worry, the sponge cannot be lost under any circumstances! Learn more here.
The little miracle sponge can be used for any kind of sport and offers maximum comfort and the discretion you desire.
Care and cleaning instructions after the period
After your period, the menstrual sponge is placed in the water-vinegar mixture again overnight and then rinsed out with water. The sponge is then air-dried in a clean and dry place and then stored in our cotton bag. The air-permeable bag allows the sponge to breathe and protects it from dirt particles.
Tip: Alternatively, tea tree oil can be used for cleaning. This method also kills all bacteria and makes it easy to get rid of unpleasant odors. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with water and soak the menstrual sponge in it overnight.
Proper disposal
The sponge is a 100% natural product and therefore biodegradable. Compost your sponge to give it back to nature. In this process, your sponge naturally decomposes - and no waste is produced.
IMPORTANT:
- The menstrual sponge must never be boiled, otherwise it will become hard and its structure can no longer be used.
- The sponge must not be used or continue to be used in the case of vaginal infections.
- The sponge is not suitable for postnatal postnatal flow.
- We do not recommend using additives for cleaning; Tap water is natural and sufficient.
