Perioden Schwamm und Spirale und weshalb bei der Tasse Vorsicht geboten ist!😱

Period sponge and coil and why you should be careful with the cup!😱

Dear HERA Family Member,

Today I would like to talk from my perspective as a doctor about an important topic that affects many women: the menstrual sponge and the IUD. As a medical professional, it is important to me to clear up misunderstandings and inform you how you can use both options safely and without worry.

First of all, I would like to stress that there is no danger in wearing an IUD and using the menstrual sponge at the same time. The IUD sits securely in the uterus and is not affected by the sponge. So you can safely use your menstrual sponge to make your period more comfortable.

What is the difference to the menstrual cup and why should you be careful!

However, I would like to point out an important distinction: When using a menstrual cup or menstrual cup, there is theoretically a risk that the IUD will be dislocated (shifted). This happens due to the negative pressure or vacuum that is created when the cup is removed, which can lead to the IUD being pulled out or immobilized. In the case of a copper IUD in particular, a dislocated IUD can lead to an increased risk of pregnancy.

It is therefore important to proceed carefully when removing the menstrual cup and to release the negative pressure gently in order to avoid any danger to the IUD. Please also discuss this issue with your gynecologist, who can give you individual advice.

The menstrual sponge, on the other hand, does not pose any such risks for IUD wearers. Since the natural sponge does not work with a vacuum, there is no risk of the IUD becoming displaced or damaged. You can therefore use the menstrual sponge without any concerns and benefit from its advantages.

I hope that this post has provided some clarity on the menstrual sponge and the IUD. No matter which option you choose, do your research, talk to your gynecologist and choose the product that best suits your individual needs.

With this in mind, I wish you a pleasant and carefree menstrual period!
